Fashion of north India

Every corner of India is a home to rich cultures and distinctive traditions. It is diverse not even from state to state but from people to people who speak many diverse dialects. This is the uniqueness, versatility and elegance of Indian fashion. It also carries the tradition and
knowledge with it and this is the beauty of India. Area's geography also influence its fashion.

North Indian fashion  



In Punjab 'Phulkari' embroidery is famous. It means 'flower Craft' and it has been in culture since 15th century.




In Haryana 'Panja Durries' are famous. It is a weaving technique which gets its name from the tool 'Panja' used in the process of weaving. 





Himachal Pradesh or 'Pahari' natives; famous for the 'Kullu' shawls. It is an integral part of their heritage.



In Uttar Pradesh 'Chikankari' is famous especially in Lucknow. It is believed that Chikankari have been introduced by Nur Jehan.





The costumes of Jammu and Kashmir are full of embroidery and have designs with mirrors. 'Poots and Pheran' is the most famous ethnic wear of which is popular among both men and women.
